Can all Disputes Use Mediation?

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?

The process of mediation is in your control. If both parties are able to focus on resolution and negotiate toward realistic and need oriented solutions the process will move along quickly.

If you are able to do some negotiating and conduct discussions outside of your mediation sessions, you will move the process along that much more easily.

The Mediation Group has worked with clients who have reached agreements in one or two sessions.

Family conflicts often can be resolved in one or two sessions, whereas divorce conflicts will usually conclude in three to six sessions. Business conflicts are very often resolved in one to three sessions while pre and postnuptial agreements often are finalized in one to two sessions.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Everything that takes place in your mediation is confidential. New York State does not grant mediators confidentiality. Therefore, we provide confidentiality by contract.

At the start of each mediation the parties and the mediator sign an agreement to mediate which sets forth all of the ground rules for the mediation and contains the provisions governing confidentiality.

NETWORKING

We network with other professionals and professional organizations on a regular basis to update our skills, information and referral system.

REFERRAL SYSTEM

We provide you with the referrals you may need depending on the issues that arise. Our network includes pension evaluators, real estate appraisers, lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, social workers, counselors, educational advocates and health care providers.
