IF DIVORCE ISN’T THE ANSWER WHAT ABOUT SEPARATION? Some couples find that their relationship is not working although they are not ready to divorce. They cannot live together the way things are. So, what do you do? Is divorcing the only solution? At The Mediation Group we can work out a separation agreement with you and will hold that agreement in accordance with your instructions while you work out your differences in counseling. You live by the agreement during this time, taking some of the stress out of the relationship. If the relationship improves and you no longer feel the need to separate just give us a call and we can eliminate the agreement. If counseling was not successful and you have made a decision that you need to end the marriage, we will send the agreement to the attorney of your choice to process it through the courts to secure your divorce. Another option would be for your attorney to file your separation agreement in court. At the end of one year, either spouse can move ahead to secure a final divorce. Very often couples get “stuck” and find they argue about the same things constantly, because they are too angry to find solutions, or are unable to effectively communicate their feelings to the other. Misunderstandings become fact and perceptions become reality. Before you divorce perhaps you should try the above. It has worked for many who report that they never thought their relationship could be so meaningful and feel so good. |
